Kentucky Political Science
Association Conference
March 1-2, 2002
Cumberland College
Williamsburg, Kentucky
This is your invitation to participate in the annual KPSA conference by submitting a proposal for a paper, organizing a panel or roundtable discussion, or serving as a panel chairperson or discussant. All faculty, as well as graduate and undergraduate students, are invited to attend the conference and to participate.
For the KPSA 2002 conference, we will feature again a special Friday morning symposium co-sponsored by the KPSA and the Eastern Kentucky University Center for Kentucky History and Politics. The theme of the symposium will be "Two Party Competition in Kentucky: Developments at the Turn of the Century and the Critical Nature of the 2002 Elections." We envision two sessions at the symposium and the participation of at least one or two prominent Kentucky political leaders. However, we also want to include the academic perspectives of Kentucky political science professors and students. If you would like to present a paper, organize a panel discussion, or participate on a panel addressing this topic, please contact Paul Blanchard (contact information below).
Non-symposium papers or panel suggestions on any political topic are welcome. Ordinarily, panels are organized on the subjects of Kentucky politics, American politics, and comparative politics/international relations, as well as on professional development issues, such as teaching politics and the use of technology in the classroom.
Finally, remember that the KPSA conference includes a panel for paper presentations by undergraduate students. The Abdul Rifai Award is given annually to the student who presents the best paper. An announcement about the student paper panel will appear early next year.
All suggestions,
proposals, and offers to serve as panel chairs or discussants at the KPSA
conference and/or the Friday morning symposium should be sent by DECEMBER
